Overall, South Dakota unemployment levels increased to 5.50% from 4.90% in the period from January to February 2010.
Over the six month period from October to February 2010, South Dakota unemployment levels increased from 4.60% to 5.50%.
At the county level, Buffalo County had the highest level of unemployment in South Dakota at 16.40%, while Harding County had the lowest level of unemployment among South Dakota counties at 3.10%.
Over the last month Hanson County experienced the largest increase in unemployment levels in the state of South Dakota with an increase from 4.80% to 7.20%, while
Buffalo County experienced the largest decrease in unemployment levels with a change from 19.80% to 16.40%.
Over the previous six month period from October to February, Custer County experienced the largest increase in unemployment levels in South Dakota with an increase from 2.50% to 6.40%.
Over the previous six month period from October to February, Dewey County experienced the largest decline in unemployment levels in South Dakota with an decrease from 21.10% to 10.30%.
Over the previous one year period from February to February, Moody County experienced the largest increase in unemployment levels in South Dakota with an increase from 5.70% to 7.90%.
Over the previous one month period from February to February, Buffalo County experienced the largest decline in unemployment levels in South Dakota with an decrease from 20.70% to 16.40%.

At the South Dakota city level, Rapid City had the highest level of unemployment at 6.50%,
while Aberdeen had the lowest level of unemployment at 4.60%.
